Biden Criticizes ICC Arrest Warrant Against Netanyahu and Gallant

U.S. President Joe Biden has rejected the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Biden labeled the warrants as unjust and unacceptable, asserting that there is no equivalence between Israel and Hamas, regardless of ICC’s claims.

Netanyahu strongly criticized the ICC’s actions, drawing parallels between his situation and the infamous Dreyfus Trial of 1894. In a video response shared on social media, he denounced the warrant as reminiscent of the anti-Semitic prosecution of Alfred Dreyfus, a Jewish French Army officer falsely accused of espionage.

The Dreyfus Trial, a symbol of anti-Semitism, involved allegations that Dreyfus leaked military secrets to Germany. He was convicted of treason and exiled to Devil’s Island. Netanyahu highlighted that the judge issuing the ICC warrant is also of French nationality, which he suggested was a troubling coincidence.
