Liquor policy case, BRS leader K. Kavitha in judicial custody for 14 days

New Delhi: BRS leader K.Kavitha Arrested in the Delhi Liquor Policy Scam Case. The court remanded Kavita in judicial custody for 14 days. Kavita will be taken into custody by the ED on March 15. The court action comes in the context of the ED custody period being over. Last week, Kavitha was remanded in ED custody for another 5 days.

ED found that Rs 100 crore was given to Kavita leaders. The bribes were given to the businessmen associated with Kavita in liquor policy. ED says Manish Sisodia is also involved in the conspiracy. ED had revealed that Kavita conspired with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia to get the benefit of the Delhi liquor policy and in return handed over 100 crores to the leaders.

The policy to transfer liquor sales and transactions under various agencies of the Delhi government to the private sector came into effect on November 17, 2021. It was after VK Saxena took charge as the governor that the allegation of irregularity in the granting of licenses was directed to be investigated. A case was registered after the CBI gave a preliminary report showing that there was an irregularity. This liquor policy was withdrawn on July 31 last year due to controversy.
