Complete Prohibition on Alcohol to Be Enforced in Maharashtra’s Temple Towns: Mohan Yadav

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that partial prohibition on alcohol will be implemented in the state. He stated that substance abuse is causing the breakdown of families in society. As the first phase of this initiative, complete prohibition will be enforced in prominent temple towns across Madhya Pradesh.

This prohibition order is expected to take effect from April 1. Existing liquor shops will continue to operate under the current excise policy until the end of the financial year, according to district authorities. The prohibition will be implemented in 17 towns that are home to major temples and pilgrimage centers in the state. Reports indicate that the new directive will come into force from the next financial year.

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister on Thursday during an event held in Narsinghpur. Although he did not specify the towns where the prohibition would be enforced, indications suggest that Ujjain, Orchha, Mandla, Maheshwar, Datia, Omkareshwar, Multai, Jabalpur, Nalkheda, Salkanpur, Chitrakoot, Mandsaur, Maihar, Barman Ghat, Panna, Kuld, and Sanchi—cities with significant religious importance—are likely to be included in the prohibition list.
