Dr. CV Ananda Bose, the governor of Bengal, committed to stopping election-related violence and corruption at all costs

“As the governor, he is responsible for ensuring constitutional independence for the people. No one has the authority to restrict his movement and public contact. It is a decision taken by him thinking that he does not want to be a black man in the political square. It was following a request made by the Election Commission in the form of an opinion based on a complaint filed by a political party.

The Election Commissioner pointed out that the reason is that all the officials who are supposed to provide facilities and security to the Governor are busy with the election arrangements. Otherwise, they themselves informed later that they would make necessary security arrangements if they were to visit,” Ananda Bose told the media.

Even though the trip to Coochbehar was canceled, the governor clarified that he will not take a single step back in his stand against violence and corruption. He interacted with the people on the streets of Kolkata from six o’clock in the morning on Friday and took complaints directly and over the phone in the peace room of Raj Bhavan and suggested remedial measures. He interacted with lawyers and officials including Attorney General R Venkataramani.

The state election commissioner has been entangled by handing over the list of habitual offenders, which should not be kept secret, to the leaders of political parties. The Governor has brought this matter to the notice of the Central Election Commissioner.

Meanwhile, there is an influx of complaints from all parts of the state about violence, corruption, favoritism and irregularities in the peace room of Raj Bhavan. On Friday, the Governor himself presided over the work of the Peaceroom and briefed the media there.

“The security and peace of the people of Bengal is my priority. My focus is on fighting violence and corruption, especially during elections. My visits are for these purposes, but there is an attempt to politicize the governor’s office. “No one will be allowed to bring down the dignity of the Governor’s office,” he told the media.

Meanwhile, the state election commissioner who committed a serious violation of the law by handing over the list of habitual offenders to political party leaders, which should not be kept secret by law, has been arrested. Governor Dr Ananda Bose brought this matter to the attention of the Central Election Commissioner and the State Election Commission is on the lookout.

Pointing out the difficulties in the Governor’s visit to Coochbehar, the Election Commission is now constantly contacting the Raj Bhavan asking when he will be there and what facilities will be provided.
