eSanjeevani crossed another milestone by completing 3 million consultations

According to a statement issued by the government, the National Telemedicine Service – eSanjeevani – on Wednesday proved another milestone by completing 3 million consultations. The statement said that at present this service is running in 31 states and union territories of the country and more than 35 thousand patients are consulted.

Indian government’s National Telemedicine Service has started supporting the Indian healthcare delivery system by connecting the digital health divide in urban and rural India. It is also removing the shortage of doctors and specialists at the grassroots level while reducing the burden on secondary and tertiary level hospitals. The statement said that according to the National Digital Health Mission, the digital health ecosystem in the country is also getting a boost. The service that was started by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare is of two types: Easinjivani AB-HWC and ESanjivani OPD. ESanjeevani AB-HWC is a doctor-to-doctor telemedicine platform, which is being implemented under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. According to the statement, by December 2022, this platform will be made operational in 1 lakh 55 thousand health and wellness centers.
