FEMA Violation Case,ED Summons Mahua Moitra, Darshan Hiranandani on March 28

Delhi: ED has summoned TMC leader Mahua Moitra and businessman Darshan Hiranandani to appear for questioning on March 28 in the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violation case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided Mahua Moitra’s house in connection with the cash-for-query case, days after the anti-corruption ombudsman Lokpal directed the federal agency to probe allegations leveled against her by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey.

Dubey, a member of the Lok Sabha, alleged that Moitra asked questions in the House by taking money and gifts from Dubai-based Hiranandani to attack businessman Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sources said transactions linked to a non-resident external (NRE) account besides some other foreign remittances and fund transfers are under the ED’s scanner.

ED had sent summons to Mahua before this as well. Mahua had denied all the allegations against him. Mahua said that he was being targeted for raising questions against the Adani Group.
