Fresh petition was filed in court to declare Taj Mahal a Shiva temple.

Agra: A new petition has been filed in the Agra court demanding that the Taj Mahal be declared as the Hindu temple Tejo Mahal. The petition was filed on Wednesday. The petition also demands that all Islamic rituals be stopped at the Taj Mahal. The plea will be heard on April 9.

The petition has been filed by advocate Ajay Pratap Singh, who is also the president of Yogeshwar Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sangh Trust and Kshatriya Shaktipeeth Vikas Trust. The petition also demands that the Islamic practices and activities at the Taj Mahal, which are not appropriate for the place of worship, should be stopped.

The petitioner has also submitted the history of this complex as Taj Mahal as evidence before the court. It includes content from history books. Earlier, Hindutva organizations had come forward claiming that the Taj Mahal was not built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan but was a Shiva temple. Earlier petitions were filed demanding that the Taj Mahal be declared a Shiva temple, but many were rejected by the court.
