Health Alert: 11 Dead from Fever in State, 173 Affected Dengue and 4 Affected Choler

Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram is on alert due to cholera fear. Thiruvananthapuram is on high alert as four people were diagnosed with cholera on Friday alone. The disease was confirmed among the inmates of Srikarunya Hostel in Neyyattinkara. With this, the number of people affected by cholera in the state has increased to 12. 11 of them are inmates of the hostel in Neyyattinkara Of greater concern is the fact that the source of cholera cannot be traced.

44 people who sought treatment for flue have been diagnosed with H1N1 infection. 12204 people have sought treatment for fever. Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held under the leadership of Health Minister Veena George to assess the situation.

In case of confirmed cholera in a private care home at Neyyatinkara, Thiruvananthapuram, the situation was reviewed. Cholera prevention activities are going on in the area. The minister also stated that water samples from all water sources and various food samples have been sent for testing.

At present, those infected are being treated in the isolation ward at Airanimuttu. Arrangements are made here to treat more patients. Some people in the care home went to their homes and were found and put under observation.
