Mumbai: A helicopter crashed during landing at Mahad in Raigad district of Maharashtra. The helicopter carrying Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Sushma Andhare to participate in a general meeting as part of the election campaign was involved in the accident.
The helicopter suddenly crashed while landing at the temporary helipad in Mahad around 9:30 in the morning. The helicopter skidded during landing and crashed. Along with the loud noise, the entire area was filled with dust. The pilots jumped out of the helicopter and escaped. Both are injured. Police and rescue team immediately reached the spot. Sushma Andhra was brought by helicopter to campaign for NCP candidate Supriya Sule in Baramati. None of the leaders were in the copter at the time of the accident. The helicopter was completely destroyed.
