IS militants caught in Assam, arrested while trying to cross into India

Dispur: Two IS terrorists who tried to enter India through the international border in Assam have been caught. The head of ISIS in India was also arrested. They were caught by the STF team in Assam’s Dhubri sector while trying to enter India from Bangladesh.

Agencies including NIA were looking for them. Assam Police informed that Harish Ajmal Farooqui and Anurag Singh (Rehan) have been arrested. Faruqi is a native of Uttarakhand. Anurag hails from Panipat, Haryana. Anurag’s wife who converted to Islam is Bangladeshi.

It is reported that both of them carried out anti-national activities in the country by recruiting youth from India for terrorist activities and securing financial support. Assam Police clarified that both will be handed over to NIA for further investigations.
