Israel Confirms Killing Hezbollah Leader Hashim Safiuddin

The Israeli military has confirmed the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hashem Safieddine
, three weeks after conducting an airstrike in Beirut. Hashem Safieddine was expected to succeed Hassan Nasrallah, the former head of Hezbollah, who was killed by Israel last month.

Hashem Safieddine was the head of Hezbollah’s Political Council and a relative of the organization’s former Secretary-General. Israel’s airstrike targeted Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters in Beirut’s Dahiya district, where around 25 members of the group, including intelligence officer Bilal Saeed Aish, were present.

Following the attack, all contact with Hashim Safi al-Din was lost. Hezbollah has yet to comment on Israel’s claims regarding the assassination.
