Kerala Rain | Houses collapsed on top of houses at Munnar Rajamalai; Suspicion that many are trapped

Massive landslide following landslide at Rajamalai. The landslide occurred in the Pettimudi plantation area. It is suspected that the rhythms fell to the top. It is reported that there were about 80 people in four rhythms. There are unconfirmed reports that 20 of them are trapped. A team including police and forest officials have been dispatched to the spot. It is learned that three people have been rescued from the accident.

The accident happened on Thursday night following heavy rain. The area is mostly inhabited by Tamil workers. No exact information has been received from here as the BSNL tower has come to a standstill due to lack of electricity. The district collector said rescue workers would arrive at the scene soon. Vigilance has been issued to nearby hospitals.

The Periyavara bridge connecting the area was damaged and could not be reached. The Periyavara bridge collapsed during the last floods. Construction of the new bridge is not complete. The area was completely isolated after the temporary bridge collapsed due to heavy rains the previous day. Therefore, it is inaccessible to vehicles.
