Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Reprimands Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla reprimands Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Rahul was creating a ruckus by saying that he was not allowed to speak and that he did not know what they were afraid of.

At this time, the Speaker asked the Opposition Leader to maintain the dignity of the House and follow parliamentary etiquette. Although the Congress leader had said that he wanted to speak about the Kumbh Mela and unemployment, Speaker Om Birla did not allow him to speak.

Rahul protested against this. “Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) ji spoke about the Maha Kumbh Mela, I also want to speak about it. I also wanted to raise the issue of unemployment, but I was not allowed.”

“We are not allowed to speak,” Rahul Gandhi clarified. “Every time I stand up, I am stopped. I did nothing wrong – I was sitting silently. There is no place for democracy here. Only the government has a place,” he added.
The Speaker had replied that Rahul and the opposition should observe parliamentary etiquette.

“I hope you will uphold the high standards of the House. There have been many incidents where the conduct of MPs has not met these standards. I hope the Leader of the Opposition will follow the rules,” Birla said.
