A landslide occurred near the motorway, close to Joshimath-Badrinath National Highway, that connects Thaing village in Chamoli district. One part of a mountain collapsed in Joshimath area due to a massive landslide on Friday morning. No causlities have been reported yet as the area was vacant at that time.
Heavy rainfall is experiencing in the northern states and the states are facing wrath of floods and landslides. Uttarakhand has also seen several casualties due to heavy rainfall. A woman died and five people were injured on Thursday when a house collapsed in Almora district, while a man drowned in the Shakti canal here amid incessant rainfall in various parts of Uttarakhand. The continuous rainfall has triggered landslides at a number of places, blocking traffic movement. Three highways and around 100 motor roads in various parts of the state are blocked by landslide debris. In Himachal Pradesh, 14 people are died from the landslip site at Nigulsari in Kinnaur district, while 13 people are injured, two of them seriously,16 people are still missing.
