Amritsar: A murder attempt was made on Akali Dal leader and former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal inside the Golden Temple in Amritsar, a high-security area. The shooting occurred near the temple’s entrance gate. Sukhbir Singh Badal was shot at twice.
The bullets hit the wall near the entrance gate. According to the police, no one was injured in the incident. The assailant, who shot at Sukhbir Singh Badal, was immediately subdued by people nearby and handed over to the police. Video footage of the incident, which occurred earlier today, has since been released.
At the time of the attack, Sukhbir Singh Badal was sitting in a wheelchair near the entrance of the Golden Temple. The person identified as Narayan Singh is reported to have fired the shots. He is currently in police custody. Further details about the incident are yet to be released.
