Nation Pays Tribute to Ratan Tata, Funeral to be Held Today with Full State Honors

Rathan Tata will be bid funeral with official honors today. The Tata Group announced that the body will be put on public display at the NCPA (National Center for Performing Arts) in South Mumbai from 10 am to 4 pm. After that, the body will be taken to Worli Crematorium for cremation.

The Maharashtra government has announced a state-wide mourning today following the demise of Ratan Tata. The chief minister’s office said in a statement that the national flag will be flown at half-mast at government offices in Maharashtra as a sign of mourning. There will be no entertainment programs in the state today. Maharashtra Minister Deepak Kesarkar announced that all the programs of the state government scheduled to be held today have been cancelled.

Ratan Tata was admitted to the hospital on Monday after his blood pressure dropped. Then he was on ventilator. The Tata Group had announced the other day that his health condition was improving, but later it deteriorated again. Ratan Tata’s death was officially confirmed around 11.45 pm on Wednesday. He died at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Ratan Tata, who was the chairman of the Tata Group from 1991 to 2012, was honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan by the country.
