New rule in Indian Railway train ticket booking come into effect today

Delhi: There was a trend of canceling train tickets, which prompted Indian Railways to make decisions to shorten the advance reservation period for tickets. This decision comes into effect today.

The advance reservation period has been reduced from 120 days to 60 days. This means that train tickets can now only be reserved up to 60 days (excluding the travel date) in advance. The change is made because there has been a tendency to cancel tickets booked four months in advance as the travel date approaches. Railways explained that by setting the advance reservation period to 60 days, travelers will be able to arrange their journeys more accurately. They also mentioned that changes in train schedules would help avoid situations that negatively affect ticket holders.

Meanwhile, the rule allowing foreign tourists to book tickets up to 365 days in advance will remain unchanged. Additionally, new changes will not apply to certain daytime express trains, such as the Taj Express and Gomti Express, which have different advance booking regulations. Railways stated that these new changes are aimed at assisting travelers.
