New Medical Colleges and Free Smartphone Distribution; Key Announcements by Uttar Pradesh Government

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has made key announcements, including the distribution of free smartphones and the establishment of new medical colleges. The decisions were taken during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The government has decided to set up medical colleges under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in the districts of Hathras, Kasganj, and Baghpat. This initiative aims to extend healthcare and medical education to underdeveloped areas of the state.

As part of the Swami Vivekananda Youth Empowerment Scheme, the government will procure 2.5 million smartphones for free distribution to eligible youth. These smartphones will be provided to those pursuing higher education, technical education, health education, skill development training, and ITI programs.

The initiative will continue for five years, with ₹4,000 crore allocated for the 2024-25 fiscal year. This step aims to empower the youth by enhancing their access to technology and education.
