Ahead of Eid, Sambhal Circle Officer (CO) Anuj Chaudhary issued these directives, emphasizing the importance of security to prevent any untoward incidents. During a peace committee meeting, he also spoke about the mutual responsibilities that everyone should uphold.
His words were as follows:
“When you offer delicacies on Eid, you should also accept the ‘gujiya’ offered during Holi. Problems arise when one side is willing, and the other is not. This is where brotherhood breaks down, and that should not happen. Prayers will not be allowed on roads. Namaz can only be performed at traditional places like mosques and Eidgahs. People should not gather unnecessarily on rooftops during prayers. Loudspeaker use will also be regulated to avoid inconvenience.”
Members of the Muslim community had sought permission from the SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) Sadar to perform prayers on rooftops. In response, the SDM clarified that prayers will not be allowed even outside the platform of the Jama Masjid—they must be conducted strictly inside the mosque.
During the Sambhal peace committee meeting, CO Anuj Chaudhary also warned that if any disturbances or issues arise during the celebrations, both parties will have to face the consequences. Referring to the upcoming 52 Fridays and Jumu’ah prayers, he added, “If you find any fault with these directives, you are free to approach the court.”
