Offensive Remarks Against Savarkar: Pune Court Issues Summons to Rahul Gandhi

New Delhi: A special court in Pune has summoned Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making objectionable remarks against Savarkar. Notice to appear in person on October 23 in defamation case filed by Savarkar’s grandson.

A complaint was filed against the opposition leader in the Pune court last year. The case was transferred from the Judicial Magistrate First Class Court to the Special Court for MPs and MLAs last month. In the case, he was charged under the Indian Penal Code for defamation. In his complaint, Satyaki Savarkar alleged that during a March 2023 speech in London, Gandhi said that VD Savarkar had written in a book that he and five or six friends had once beaten up a Muslim man.
