The central government has tightened its stance against terrorists in the country. Now, the NIA is conducting raids in 22 places in five states of the country in connection with the case taken by Delhi against the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed.
The inspection is in Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra, Assam, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. The inspection which started on Friday night in 22 places in five states is still in progress. It is reported that seven people suspected of terrorist links have been detained. Three people were taken into custody from Maharashtra. It is reported that weapons were seized during the search conducted in East Delhi. Three people were taken into custody from here. In Jammu and Kashmir, five places including Srinagar and Baramulla are being searched. The NIA had already received some information about Jaish-e-Mohammed’s activities. Based on this, a case was registered at the NIA headquarters in Delhi.
The NIA also disclosed that on October 2, it received a message from a person claiming to be associated with a terrorist organization that there was a bomb threat to eight railway stations in Maharashtra. In the letter, there was a threat to blow up major railway stations in Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Kota, Bundi, Udaipur and Jaipur on the 30th of this month. Jaish-e-Mohammed is a terrorist organization based in Pakistan. This organization was also behind the martyrdom of 49 Indian soldiers in the Pulwama attack in 2019.
Meanwhile, last week, the NIA raided 11 places in Tamil Nadu in connection with the investigation against Hizb ut Tahrir, a terrorist organization that advocates the establishment of Islamic rule in India. The NIA conducted an investigation in the case related to Hizb ut Tahrir’s anti-election campaign
Officials informed that digital devices, undocumented money and pamphlets of Hizbuh Harir were recovered from the houses of 11 people in Chennai, Tambaram and Kanyakumari. The NIA is probing people who have shared hateful posts on social media and campaigned against voting.
NIA officials also alleged that Hizb ut Tahrir is inciting its followers to divide the people and overthrow the legally established democratic government. Officials also said that the main conspirator in the case, Hameed Hussain, collaborated with five other accused in the case to hold secret meetings to spread anti-India ideology of the outfit.
“The accused, along with many others, were campaigning across Tamil Nadu and trying to divide the people to establish Khilafat or Islamic rule in India. Apart from this, the investigations conducted so far have found that they were engaged in activities aimed at bringing down the democratic government and destroying the integrity of the country,’ the NIA said in a press release.
