In connection with International Women’s Day, Gujarat Minister announced that only women police officers will be deployed for the security of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Gujarat. Modi will be attending a mega event in Navsari district on March 8. From the moment he lands at the helipad, only women police officers will be responsible for his security. Gujarat’s Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, stated that this is the first time such an initiative is being implemented in the country.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, Gujarat Police is organizing a special program. From the moment the Prime Minister arrives at the helipad in Vansi Borsi village, Navsari, until he reaches the event venue, all security arrangements will be handled exclusively by women police officers,” Minister Harsh Sanghavi said.
Over 2,100 constables, 187 sub-inspectors, 61 police inspectors, 16 deputy superintendents of police, five superintendents of police, one inspector general of police, and an additional director general of police—all women officers—will be in charge of security on that day. The minister added that this is the first time in India’s history such an initiative is being undertaken.
