RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das Retires Today, Expressed Gratitude to his Colleagues

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has announced his gratitude toward colleagues as he prepares to step down from his position today. In his farewell message, he acknowledged the support of the RBI team in navigating unprecedented global challenges and expressed hope for the institution to grow as a pillar of trust and credibility.

Das was appointed as the Governor on December 12, 2018, following the abrupt resignation of Urjit Patel. He expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for their guidance and support during his tenure. Das highlighted the importance of Sitharaman’s economic coordination in overcoming several challenges over the past six years.

Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra is set to succeed Das as the new RBI Governor and will assume office tomorrow.
