S Jaishankar takes charge as External Affairs Minister

New Delhi: S Jaishankar has taken over as the External Affairs Minister. He took charge shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi retained him in the cabinet for a third term.

It is a great honor to once again lead the Ministry of External Affairs. This ministry has performed well in the last term. We have taken up the challenges of covid including vaccine maitri supplies. We were also at the center of critical operations like Operation Ganga and Operation Kaveri.

In the last decade, the ministry under Prime Minister Modi has become a very people-centric ministry. You can see our improved passport services and our Community Welfare Fund support for overseas Indians, said S Jayashankar.

S Jaishankar’s top priorities in his second term are dealing with challenges arising from China’s intimidation tactics on the border and safeguarding India’s interest in view of the current situation in West Asia and the conflict in Ukraine.
