Mumbai: 1,300 new buses will be launched for public transport in Maharashtra. The Mahayuti government has come up with a New Year gift for the people. This is part of the measures to ensure safe and comfortable travel for passengers.
The new services will start from January 1. Out of the 1,300 buses, 450 will operate on the Nashik-Sambhaji Nagar, Nagpur-Amaravati, and Mumbai-Pune routes. Before the Covid pandemic, 18,500 buses were operating in the state. However, due to a decrease in passenger numbers, this was reduced to 15,500 services.
MSRTC Chairman Bharat Gogawale said that this is the government’s New Year gift to the people under the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation. Bharat Gogawale also said that it is the responsibility of the state government to ensure safe travel facilities for everyone.
