Chennai : Santhan released convict in Rajiv Gandhi assassination passed away. He was undergoing treatment in Chennai for serious liver disease. The end is about to go to Sri Lanka. A few days ago, the central government granted an exit permit to Shanthan,to return to Sri Lanka.
Santhan had appealed to both the governments to help him return to Sri Lanka as soon as possible to see his mother. On November 11, 2022, the Supreme Court released six people who were imprisoned for 32 years in the Rajiv Gandhi murder case.
Of these, Tamil Nadu natives Nalini and Ravichandran were freed, but Sri Lankan citizens Shanthan, Murugan, Robert Pius and Jayakumar were kept in a camp for foreign criminals inside the Tiruchirappalli jail.
