Similar to the flu, an unknown disease is spreading in Gujarat raising concerns

AHMEDABAD: An unknown disease is spreading in Gujarat raising concern. 15 people died due to the flu-like illness. The disease is spreading in Lakhpat in Kutch district of Gujarat. 15 deaths have occurred in the last 8 days. Between September 3 and 7, 10 deaths were reported. After this, 5 more people lost their lives. Among the dead are children.

It is becoming a challenge that the authorities have not been able to find the cause or source of the disease even after days have passed. The samples of 11 people who died due to the disease have been sent to the Institute of Virology in Pune for testing. District Collector Amit Arora informed that the test results will be available in two days and with this we will be able to find out which type of virus caused the disease. Tests have confirmed that the currently circulating disease is not H1N1, malaria, dengue or swine flu.

Officials informed that 22 surveillance teams and more doctors have been deployed in Lakhpat region in case of disease outbreak. The region had recently experienced heavy rains and floods. Kutch district received the highest rainfall in Gujarat this season. According to data on September 10, 890 mm of rain was recorded in Kutch. It received 184 percent more rain than the average.
