Student politics should not be banned-High Court

The High Court said that student politics should not be banned. The court also opined that politics should not be banned, but political games should be banned. The court’s observation was made while considering a public interest litigation seeking a ban on student politics on campuses.

The petition was considered by a bench comprising Justice A. Muhammad Mushtaq and Justice P. Krishnakumar. The court also opined that it is politics, not politics itself, that should be banned. Political games within the campus should be banned.

The court said that religion cannot be banned for acts done in the name of religion. Politics cannot be banned for acts done in the name of politics. We must understand the positive side of politics. Politics cannot be completely eliminated from campuses.
