The district collector has issued an injunction order at Thrikunnappuzha and Purakkad panchayats in the district. The ban was issued after the locals started agitating against the plantation spillway. The district administration explained that the moratorium on proclaiming that the plumbing works had to be completed before the rainy season was delayed due to protests.
The district collector announced the ban, adding that crowds gathering as part of the protests could lead to the spread of COVID. The moratorium has been announced from midnight today until July 3rd.
Earlier, the authorities had shut down some meat shops and other establishments in the city of Kaikulam after the father and son of the COVID sufferers were surrounded. More restrictions are likely on Kayamkulam as their route map arrives.
