The lockdown led to the return of migrant workers in several states, including UP Bihar, after which cases of coronavirus increased rapidly. However, now that the pace of return of laborers has come down, the Corona cases have started coming down. Various states kept the returned migrant workers in quarantine for 21 days. Officials say the decrease in cases is because workers are coming back less in the first and second weeks of June than in the first.
Bihar Health Secretary, Lokesh Kumar Singh said, ‘Peak of workers’ return is over now.’ There were 3923 cases in Bihar on June 1, which increased to 6581 on June 15. Singh said that although the numbers have increased, the pace is much slower than before. In the first week of June, cases increased at a rate of 12 percent, and in the second week, it decreased to 10.81 percent.
According to the Public Relations Department of Bihar, around 21 lakh workers have returned to the state after May 1. From May 1, the central government started operating Shramik Special trains. Two and a half million people returned to the state in the first and second week of June.
At the same time, nearly three million workers have returned to Uttar Pradesh since mid-April. Thereafter, an increase in corona cases was seen in the eastern and western areas. Half of the workers were screened after withdrawal. Data from the state government’s health department show that an average of 412 new corona cases was reported in the first week of June. In the second week, this reduced to 356 cases daily.
Principal Secretary of Health and Family Welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said, “Over 500 cases were reported on Saturday and Sunday as the testing report was pending.” He said health staff had screened 1.6 million migrants who were home quarantined as of 14 June and only 1,455 of them had symptoms of the disease.
Corona case decreased in Jharkhand too
In addition, Jharkhand witnessed some relief during Unlock 1, which started on June 1. Coronavirus cases decreased. It is believed that after the return of the workers, these cases started coming down. On June 8, the state had the highest number of 187 cases. After this, on an average 50 cases are being reported in the last four days. As of 31 May, there were a total of 610 Corona cases in Jharkhand, which reached 1151 by 15 June.
New cases of corona reduced in Madhya Pradesh too
Talking about Madhya Pradesh, here also the return of migrant workers from other states. In the beginning, the cases of corona increased very rapidly in Madhya Pradesh but later the government overcame them. 1424 cases were reported in the last week of May, which decreased to 1401 in the second week of June.
