Third phase of Lok Sabha Election; Conflict in West Bengal, 39.92 percent polling till one o’clock

Election Commission has said that 39.92 percent polling has been recorded till one o’clock in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Elections are being held today for 93 Lok Sabha seats in 11 states and Union Territories.

Assam- 45.88%, Bihar- 36.69%, Chhattisgarh- 46.14%, Dadra Nagar Haveli & Daman Diu- 39.94%, Goa- 49.04%, Gujarat- 37.83% Karnataka- 41.59%, Madhya Pradesh- 44.67%, Maharashtra- 31.55%, Uttar Pradesh – 38.12%, West Bengal- 49.27%.

Many prominent candidates of BJP are contesting in the third phase. Prominent among them is Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is seeking a second term from Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Jyotiraditya Scindia, Mansukh Mandavya and Prahlad Joshi are also in the fray for BJP in the third phase.

During the polling, there was a minor clash in West Bengal. There was a clash between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress at the booth in Murshidabad. The police at the polling booth intervened and calmed down the situation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi cast his vote at Nishan Higher Secondary School booth in Ahmedabad. Modi reached the polling station at 7:30 in the morning. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP leaders Sarath Pawar, Ajit Pawar, candidates Prahlad Joshi and Supriya Sule among others reached the booth early in the morning and cast their votes.
