Uproar in Delhi Assembly; AAP MLAs, Including Opposition Leader, Evicted from House

Delhi: Dramatic scenes in the Delhi Assembly. AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, were called in by marshals and removed from the House for creating a ruckus during the Lt. Governor’s policy announcement. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta placed 14 CAG reports, including those on the liquor policy scam, on the table of the House.

The AAP protested in the House, alleging that the BJP had removed the portraits of BR Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh from the Chief Minister’s office. Even during the Lieutenant Governor’s policy announcement, leaders including Atishi and Gopal Rai continued to create ruckus. Later, Speaker Vijendra Gupta called marshals and removed them from the House.

The Speaker suspended 12 MLAs, including Atishi, from the House for a day for trying to disrupt the policy speech. The Lieutenant Governor announced that he would investigate the corruption during the AAP government. The expelled MLAs protested by sitting in front of the Assembly.
