Thundershowers will develop at a few places in the inner districts and light showers in the coastal districts and Pondicherry and Karaikal during the next 24 hours due to atmospheric circulation and convection. Salem, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, and Kanyakumari districts are likely to receive heavy showers at one or two places.
Light showers are also expected in the northern coastal districts and parts of Pondicherry and Karaikal, while thundershowers will occur at one or two places in the Nilgiris district. The sky will be generally cloudy over the next 48 hours in Chennai and suburbs. There may be light rain in some parts of the city. The maximum temperature is recorded at 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 26 degrees Celsius.

Fishermen Warning:
From September 09 to September 11, strong winds of 40-50 kmph are expected in the Gulf of Mannar and the Gulf of Mannar.
Also, strong winds with speeds of 45-55 kmph are expected in the southwestern Arabian Sea from September 09 to September 13. Fishermen are advised not to go to the above areas.
