A major encounter in Chhattisgarh resulted in the deaths of 29 Maoists, including prominent Maoist leader Shankar Rao

Sukhma: Security forces killed 29 Maoists in an encounter at Kankar in Chhattisgarh. According to the police, senior Maoist leader Shankar Rao is also among those killed. Three policemen were injured in the encounter. The security forces said that they seized several weapons including an AK 47 gun and Insas rifles. The slain Maoist leader Shankar Rao has a bounty of Rs 25 lakhs on his head by investigative agencies.

Three security personnel were shot dead in an encounter in a forest area near Binagunda. National media reported that the clash started around 1.30 pm on Tuesday. The District Reserve Guard (DRG), which was formed in 2008 to check Maoist activities in the state, and the Border Security Force (BSF) jointly participated in the encounter.

Two BSF jawans and one DRG jawan were injured in the firing. The BSF troopers managed to escape the danger, but the condition of the DRG soldier is reported to be critical.
