In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, the ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan may be revoked. Government sources indicate that there is a possibility of scrapping the agreement that has been in place since 2021. The Army Chief is expected to assess the situation.
Meanwhile, Pakistani firing continues along the border in Kashmir. The Indian Army has responded strongly, stating that no one was injured in the exchange of fire. The firing occurred on Thursday night along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. Military sources reported that a strong counter-response was given. The incident follows the recent terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which has triggered a new crisis between the two neighboring countries.
A total of 26 people, including a Malayali, were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. In response, India has accelerated its tough stance against Pakistan. As part of these actions, India has issued a notification suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and has officially informed Pakistan of the decision.
