Ahmedabad: Gujarat is set to implement the Uniform Civil Code. The Gujarat government has appointed a five-member committee, led by retired Supreme Court Judge Justice Ranjana Desai. The committee is required to submit its report within 45 days. After studying the report, the government will make a decision, said Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The other members of the committee include retired IAS officer C.L. Meena, advocate R.C. Kodaker, educationist Dakshesh Thacker, and social worker Geeta Sharof.
This year, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 75th anniversary of the Constitution is being celebrated. Ensuring equal rights for all and implementing the Uniform Civil Code across the country is his goal, said Bhupendra Patel.
