Prime Minister to visit Prayagraj for Maha Kumbh Mela today; Security Tightened

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, today to participate in the Maha Kumbh Mela at the Triveni Sangam. He will arrive at the aerial ghat at 10:50 AM and take a boat to the Maha Kumbh. From 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, he will take a holy dip at the Sangam Ghat. At 11:45 AM, he will return to the aerial ghat by boat and then proceed to the DPS helipad before heading to Prayagraj Airport.

At 12:30 PM, the Prime Minister will depart from Prayagraj on an Air Force flight. During his visit, he is expected to interact with saints and review arrangements for the millions of pilgrims expected at the 2025 Maha Kumbh.

After the holy dip, PM Modi will meet with ascetics before returning to Delhi around 12:30 PM. His visit will be a brief one, lasting approximately two hours. This marks his second visit to Prayagraj in two months, with his previous visit taking place on December 13, 2024.

There were speculations that the Prime Minister might not visit Prayagraj following the stampede and overcrowding incidents on Mauni Amavasya. However, his visit confirms his commitment to the grand event. In the 2019 Kumbh Mela, PM Modi had honored sanitation workers by washing their feet as a mark of respect.

Notably, the Prime Minister’s visit coincides with the Delhi Assembly elections. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he made headlines for meditating at Vivekananda Rock in Kanyakumari on the day of the seventh phase of voting.

Several key leaders have also visited the Maha Kumbh Mela recently. Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended on January 27, while Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar visited on February 1. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to attend on February 10.
