Heavy rainfall is continuing across Tamil Nadu, triggered by the intensifying low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. In light of the relentless rain, an Orange Alert has been issued for 16 districts in the state, including Chennai, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal.
Due to the rain, schools in areas like Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, and Thiruvarur have been declared closed for today. The sea conditions are rough in areas including Mayiladuthurai, and fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
In Rameswaram and Pamban, mobile phone network disruptions have been reported for over four hours. Weather reports indicate that strong rainfall is expected in delta districts and Puducherry as well. The low pressure system’s intensification in the Bay of Bengal is the cause of the rainfall, which is expected to continue for the next four days.
