An encounter took place between security forces and Maoists in Jharkhand, resulting in the death of eight Maoists. The gunfight occurred in Lalpania, located in the Bokaro district.
Among those killed was a Maoist leader known as Vivek, for whom the government had announced a reward of ₹1 crore. The operation is still ongoing in the area.
Last week, in Chhattisgarh, 22 Maoists were arrested following an encounter with security forces. The arrests were made during an operation conducted by the police in the forest region of Tekmelti village in Bijapur district. Explosives were also recovered from those arrested.
Similarly, in another encounter in Bastar, two Maoists were killed. The police stated that the slain individuals were senior Maoist leaders — identified as Haldar and Rame — with a combined bounty of ₹13 lakh on their heads. The operation was jointly carried out by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) from Kondagaon and the Bastar Fighters. The exchange of fire occurred in the villages of Kilam and Bargam, located near the border of Kondagaon and Narayanpur districts.
