An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in the village of Lassana in Surankote, Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir. Officials confirmed that a soldier was injured in the gunfight and has been admitted to the hospital for treatment.
The clash occurred during a search operation launched by security forces based on intelligence inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The operation to flush out the militants is still underway.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, along with the security forces, have launched a joint mission named ‘Operation Lassana’. Additional troops have been deployed in the area to intensify the search.
“In a joint operation with the police last night in Lassana, Surankote, contact was established with militants. More troops have been deployed, and the search operation continues to prevent the militants from escaping,” said the White Knight Corps, based in Jammu.
