Former PM and Senior Congress Leader Manmohan Singh Passes Away

Delhi: Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has passed away. The 92-year-old former Prime Minister was rushed to the hospital after experiencing discomfort and was later moved to the emergency ward.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited AIIMS to assess his health condition. Due to health reasons, Manmohan Singh had stayed away from active politics in recent years. His health had been declining since the beginning of 2024. His last public event was the launch of his daughter’s book in January 2024.

Manmohan Singh, who served as Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, retired from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year. India’s only Sikh Prime Minister, he was the 13th and 14th Prime Minister of the country.

An internationally acclaimed economist, Manmohan Singh entered politics at the insistence of former Prime Minister Narasimha Rao.
