This year, charitable contributions by philanthropists in India reached ₹8,783 crore, marking a 4% increase from last year. At the forefront is Tamil Nadu-based businessman Shiv Nadar, who has donated an astounding ₹2,153 crore to support the underprivileged, contributing approximately ₹6 crore per day to charitable causes. Despite Malayalam entrepreneurs appearing on global wealth lists, none are present in India’s top 10 charitable contributors, all of whom are Hindu business leaders.
Shiv Nadar, a 78-year-old philanthropist, prioritizes charity daily, with his foundation channeling ₹6 crore a day from his earnings. As the founder of HCL Technologies and chairman of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, he has dedicated his wealth to initiatives supporting employees with free medicine, food, and clothing, underlining his reputation as India’s top philanthropist.
