Hyderabad: Income Tax (IT) officials conducted raids on the residences and offices of Sukumar, the acclaimed director of Pushpa, starring Allu Arjun. The raids, which began in the morning, continued until afternoon. Sukumar, who is also a co-producer of Pushpa 2, was reportedly instructed to return home from the airport by IT officials for the investigation.
This is the second consecutive day of IT raids targeting prominent figures in the Hyderabad film industry. Yesterday, searches were conducted at the residences and offices of Naveen Yerneni, owner of Mythri Movie Makers, and Dil Raju, producer of Game Changer and chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation.
The raids on Naveen and Dil Raju took place in upscale areas such as Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills. While the exact reason for the raids has not been disclosed, it is believed to be linked to the massive revenues generated by Pushpa 2, which reportedly earned over ₹2000 crore in Indian and international markets.
Despite the mixed reception of Game Changer, Dil Raju’s recent release, the Venkatesh-starrer Sankranti Vasthunam, has been a significant hit. The IT department is reportedly scrutinizing financial records and transactions associated with these high-grossing projects.
