New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed pride in having the Indonesian President as the Chief Guest on the 75th anniversary of India’s Republic Day. The Prime Minister recalled that the guest for India’s first Republic Day was also an Indonesian President. During his visit to India, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto held discussions with Prime Minister Modi.
The two leaders discussed various topics, with Prime Minister Modi highlighting the honor of Indonesia’s continued partnership during India’s historic milestones. He also noted the significant growth in bilateral trade between the two nations, which crossed $30 billion last year. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening trade relations.
Agreements were signed between the two nations to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including fintech, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, infrastructure development, defense, and manufacturing. The leaders agreed to work closely in these areas to promote mutual growth.
For the first time, the Indonesian military is set to march outside its country, with its marching contingent participating in India’s Republic Day parade. Prime Minister Modi expressed excitement about witnessing this historic moment.
The Prime Minister also reminisced about his 2018 visit to Indonesia, which focused on fostering comprehensive cooperation. He emphasized the current goal of mutual collaboration-driven development and agreed to enhance cooperation in the defense sector.
