New Delhi: The President’s Medal for Distinguished Service has been awarded to three individuals, including ADGP P. Vijayan. Assistant Station Officer Madhu Sudan Nair and Senior Fire and Rescue Officer Rajendran Nair from the Fire and Rescue Services have also been honored with the prestigious award.
A total of 942 individuals across the country were recognized with medals, including 95 recipients of gallantry awards. The awards were presented to personnel from the Police, Fire and Rescue Services, Home Guards, and Civil Defence departments.
For meritorious service, 10 officers from the Police Department, 5 from the Fire and Rescue Services, and 5 from the Prison Department received the President’s Medal.
In the Police Department, the recipients of the Meritorious Service Medal include SP B. Krishnakumar, DSPs R. Shabu, K.J. Varghese, M.P. Vinod, K. Reji Mathew, DYSP M. Gangadharan, Assistant Commandant G. Sreekumaran, Sub-Inspectors M.S. Gopakumar and Suresh Kumar, and Head Constable M. Bindu.
In the Fire and Rescue Services, the medal for meritorious service was awarded to District Fire Officer S. Suraj, Senior Fire and Rescue Officers P.C. Preman, K.T. Sali, P.K. Babu, and Station Officer V. Sebastian.
From the Prison Department, Superintendent T.R. Rajeev, Deputy Superintendents V. Udayakumar, M. Radhakrishnan, C. Shaji, and Assistant Superintendent P. Unnikrishnan were honored with the President’s Medal for Meritorious Service.
Among those who received gallantry awards, 28 were from Jammu and Kashmir, 3 from the Northeastern region, and 28 were deployed in Left-wing extremism-affected areas.
