IT company employee who used to steal laptops arrested; Laptops worth ten lakhs were seized

Bengaluru: A young woman has been arrested for stealing laptops from PG (paying guest) hostels where women stay in the city. Jasu Agarwal (29), a native of Rajasthan and a former employee of a private IT company, was arrested by Bengaluru police. 24 laptops worth around ten lakh rupees were recovered from the woman.

In the last two years, the woman has stolen several laptops from various hostels in the city. Bengaluru Commissioner B Dayananda informed the media that the woman was arrested during an investigation into the theft of a laptop, charger and mouse in the HAL police station area last October.

The woman used to steal from hostels located near IT companies. The laptop was stolen from Marathahalli, Tin Factory, Bellandur, Silkboard, Whitefield and Mahadevpur. Many of these used to be resold in shops in Marathahalli and Hebbal.

The commissioner also informed that all this was found during the investigation conducted by the HAL police. Meanwhile, the ‘India Today’ report says that Jasu had lost his job during the Covid-19 pandemic and after this, Jasu Agarwal started stealing laptops.

Some of the stolen laptops were sold in the black market after reaching their homeland. The theft of the young woman was done by entering unoccupied rooms in hostels.
