Lok Sabha Election; Third phase of polling today

Today is the third phase of voting in the country. Polling for 94 Lok Sabha constituencies in 12 states and Union Territories will be held today. Today’s elections are held in Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman Diu for the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Goa, West Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Dimple Yadav, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Supriya Sule are seeking the mandate in the first phase of the polls. Schools and colleges will remain closed in constituencies where polling is taking place. This is for the smooth functioning of the polling officers. Polling in Betul constituency, which was postponed due to the death of the BSP candidate in the second phase, will be held today.

1351 candidates are contesting in the third phase of polling. A total of 2,963 nominations were received in these constituencies. After scrutiny, 1,563 candidates remained.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is contesting from Gandhinagar constituency in Gujarat. Dimple Yadav is seeking a seat from Mainpuri constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Jyotiraditya Scindia is contesting from Guna Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh
