New Delhi: The ‘One Nation, One Election’ Bill is in Parliament today. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will introduce the bill in the Lok Sabha at 12 noon. In the backdrop of the bill’s introduction, the BJP has issued a three-line whip stating that all the MPs in the Lok Sabha should reach the Lok Sabha.
The One Nation, One Election (Constitutional Amendment) Bill and the Term of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill will be introduced in the Lok Sabha. After the Bill is introduced, the Union Minister will request that it be referred to the Joint Parliamentary Committee for detailed discussion.
The Lok Sabha Speaker will announce the Joint Parliamentary Committee to examine the bill. The Speaker is likely to decide the members of the committee today itself. Political parties can propose nominees for the JPC. The members will be included taking into account the strength of the House.
