Mahakumbh Mela: Yogi Adityanath Visits Prayagraj to Review Preparations

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited Prayagraj to assess the preparations for the Mahakumbh Mela, scheduled to take place from January 13 to February 26. The Chief Minister instructed the district administration to ensure all necessary facilities for pilgrims, including seamless transportation, quality accommodation, and other amenities.

During his visit, the Chief Minister offered prayers at the Dashashwamedh Mahadev Temple and participated in the Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat. He also inspected the construction of the tent city in the fair area.

Officials estimate that the Mahakumbh Mela could generate revenue of ₹2 lakh crore for Uttar Pradesh. Known as the world’s largest spiritual congregation, the 45-day event is expected to attract millions of visitors, creating significant employment and income opportunities across various sectors.

Infrastructure development projects, including rail and road networks, are nearing completion. Authorities estimate that an average pilgrim may spend around ₹8,000 during their visit, covering travel, accommodation, and food expenses. According to the Confederation of Indian Industry, the Kumbh Mela generated ₹12,000 crore in 2013 and ₹1.2 lakh crore in 2019.

Neighboring cities like Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Mathura are also expected to benefit from the event. Spread across 4,000 hectares along the banks of the Ganga, the fair will feature a temporary city with over 1,60,000 tents.
