The government of India is a powerful entity that ensures the safety of Indians anywhere in the world. Whenever a conflict arises in any country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive interventions are made to secure Indians there. Many Indians have safely returned home from various conflict zones, and now, in light of the escalating tensions in West Asia, the central government is preparing ways to evacuate Indian nationals. The government is emphasizing the use of maritime routes to bring Indians back, having already held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding this matter.
Currently, it is estimated that over 20,000 Indians reside in Israel. India has requested these citizens to move to safer locations. The central government has also advised against travel from India to Israel and Iran. The situation is being monitored closely by the Indian authorities. Previously, during the heightened conflict between Israel and Hamas, the central government successfully executed “Operation Ajay” to bring Indians back. The Ministry of External Affairs has opened a 24-hour control room to monitor the situation, and more help lines have been established for Indians in Israel and Palestine to reach out for assistance.
As the Israel-Hamas war escalates and countries scramble to bring their citizens home, India has initiated Operation Ajay. The Indian government arranged for Indian citizens to return via specially chartered flights. At that time, approximately 18,000 Indian citizens were living, working, or studying in Israel, a large portion of whom were nurses, along with about 1,000 students and several IT professionals and diamond traders. The central government ensured their safe return.
In a similar vein, during the conflict in Ukraine, the Indian government successfully brought citizens back through Operation Ganga without even setting up a portal. This diplomatic success of Prime Minister Modi and the central government stands out, especially as even U.S. citizens were reliant on private volunteer groups to escape from Ukraine. While countries, including the U.S. and the U.K., maintained a stance that evacuation was impossible due to the war, the Modi government managed to bring Indians home from the conflict zones without any such arrangements.
These actions provided confidence to Indian citizens still in Ukraine. After the outbreak of the war, there were previous warnings from the U.S. and others stating that evacuation was not feasible and that citizens should leave the country. Private volunteer groups were the ones taking the initiative to evacuate U.S. citizens trapped in Ukraine.
During times of conflict in Afghanistan as well, India played a significant role with Operation Devi Shakti. The Modi government’s policies have been widely discussed internationally for fully protecting India’s interests while establishing diplomatic relations with both small and large foreign nations. Such interventions have garnered recognition from international media, highlighting India as a successful entity led by a determined leader.
